Don't take my word for it...
Ruth is wonderful - she is incredibly knowledgeable about the Hebrew language, culture, and principles of adult learning. She seamlessly integrates relevant information into her teaching, to cement the learning. Meeting with her was the highlight of my week. Ruth completely customized my experience based on what I wanted to learn: conversational modern Hebrew to accelerate my transition to life in Israel. I worked with Ruth for four months and in that time I became conversant with my husband, an incoming Rabbinical student. I was also confident in speaking with Israelis to accomplish basic tasks (e.g., purchase groceries, order in restaurants, ask for directions, and inquire about items in retail establishments). Ruth makes a real investment in her students...she stayed in touch with me after our move and coached me through finding an Ulpan (immersive Hebrew language program) to continue my studies. I am so grateful to have worked with her and I fully endorse her as a Hebrew instructor!
--Joy Schwartz __________________ I've been studying Hebrew with Ruthie for nearly 15 years, and wouldn't have it any other way. Ruthie makes class fun, and never stops pushing her students to be better. She's always coming up with creative new ways to teach us, whether with video, music, newspapers, or short stories without scrimping at all on the very necessary exercises that really drill the skills. Ruthie is passionate about teaching Hebrew which is apparent in every class she teaches. --Karen Prager __________________ When I began studying Hebrew with Ruthie, I was pleasantly surprised at not only her excellent teaching skills, but her knowledge of both English and Hebrew when it comes to history of both languages. I never leave without something interesting to take with me. I never thought I would be where I am. Wish I had a language teacher like her in college. --Michael Zimmerman |
I've been in Ruthie's advanced Hebrew class for the last 3-4 years. I've enjoyed the class tremendously, especially the conversation part, since Ruthie is not only an excellent Hebrew teacher but has a broad training in such areas as: Ancient and Modern Jewish History, Israeli Geography, Israeli Politics, Israeli Plants (yes!) and much more. This background makes for very interesting and entertaining conversation - all in Hebrew - and for a great opportunity to have fun learning. My friends in Israel in my recent visits have remarked that my Hebrew has improved a lot.
--Leon Eidels __________________ Ruthie Precker is the finest Hebrew teacher in the Metroplex. Her dedication and passion for the Hebrew language will take you on a journey from beginning Hebrew to advanced. You'll learn this ancient language in a variety of ways, perhaps using a Biblical passage, a traditional holiday, grammar, Israeli newspapers and books which range from ancient Hebrew to current street-talk and slang. As one of her students, I highly recommend Ruthie Precker. If you love the Hebrew language and wish to learn to speak this incredible language, contact Ruthie and begin a cultural experience that will last a lifetime. --Sharon Rowe ___________________________In September and October of 2018 I took Chocolate Hebrew from Ruth Precker at Congregation Beth Torah. While I had prepared for my Bar Mitzvah at 13, I had forgotten how to read Hebrew. It was a small class with very wide variations in knowledge of Hebrew and Judaism. Ruth tailored her teaching to each student's abilities, background and knowledge. While Chocolate Hebrew was a course developed elsewhere, Ruth's variations on the themes were very creative and fascinating. She added information from her years of teaching as well as her life in Israel. I was totally transfixed with the course and recovered a great deal of ability to read Hebrew. I would recommend her courses to all. --Myron Lazar |
When I first attended a class with Ruthie, she asked what I wanted to learn. My response was that I wanted to be able to read the Old Testament in the original language. With her patience and unwavering assistance, I am getting there. There is no other teacher I would want for this endeavor.

She is tireless in her efforts to provide excellent learning materials for her students. She is extremely generous with her time and her knowledge. I don't know of anyone who works harder to do an outstanding job. She is able to adjust her teaching style to the needs of her students. She is able to provide demanding challenges for her university students and, at the same time, be very patient with the slower progress of her adult students. I have always walked away from a session with Ruthie feeling like I have learned something important and have made progress towards my goal of becoming fluent in Hebrew. --Elizabeth Stein __________________ I studied Hebrew with Ruthie for two years when I lived in Texas. I was learning the language for fun, and I looked forward to every single day of class. Assignments were enjoyable and effective, and Ruthie tailors class to her students' interests. She is everything you'd want in a teacher--kind, committed, supportive, and hilarious. Ruthie makes learning a joy--I cannot recommend her highly enough. --Carrie Lane __________________ I love taking Hebrew from Ruthie Precker. I have been studying with her now for almost 6 years. My reading, comprehension, and spoken Hebrew have improved immeasurably. She is very knowledgeable about Biblical and historical roots of words and their meanings, which makes it very interesting. The last time that I was in Israel, I was able to do much more than just get around. I was able to discuss political topics, food in the restaurants and markets, hotel room issues, and general conversation. Israelis asked me how I knew so much Hebrew as I have never lived in Israel. It adds so much when I visit Israel and when I speak to Israelis here. Ruthie is the best language teacher that I have ever had. --Jamie Pink |
